How to prepare for a job interview at Harmonia Careers

Know Your Stuff

Make sure you brush up on your mental health knowledge and the specific requirements of the role. Familiarise yourself with common conditions, treatment approaches, and the latest practices in mental health care. This will not only help you answer questions confidently but also show your passion for the field.

Showcase Your Compassion

As a Registered Mental Health Nurse, empathy is key. Prepare examples from your past experiences where you've demonstrated compassion and patient-centred care. Think about how you’ve supported patients through tough times and how you’ve worked with multidisciplinary teams to create effective care plans.

Be Ready for Scenario Questions

Expect scenario-based questions that assess your clinical decision-making skills. Practice responding to hypothetical situations you might face on the job. This could include how you would handle a crisis or manage a challenging patient. Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers.

Ask Thoughtful Questions

At the end of the interview, don’t forget to ask questions! This shows your interest in the role and helps you gauge if it’s the right fit for you. Inquire about the team dynamics, the types of cases you’ll be handling, or how they support ongoing training and development for their nurses.
