Harlyn are seeking a driven, creative, and commercially minded Marketing Manager / Senior Marketing Manager to own and build the company’s marketing strategy. Operating primarily from Harlyn’s newly refurbished HQ in Blyth and reporting directly to the senior leadership team, this person will lead the development and delivery of Harlyn’s marketing and communications strategy while overseeing the day‑to‑day marketing function across the business. They will manage the junior marketing resource within the office and coordinate external specialist support through an established marketing consultant relationship. The role will play a central part in strengthening Harlyn’s market positioning, supporting business growth objectives, and improving internal communication and organisational alignment as the company continues to scale.

This role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on delivery. It is suited to someone who enjoys building - not simply maintaining - and who can translate complex engineering and operational work into compelling, commercially valuable communications. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping how Harlyn is perceived across the industry while also helping to embed brand, communication, and culture internally as the business continues to grow. As Harlyn evolves, this role has clear scope to expand into a broader leadership position with responsibility wider brand and business development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Marketing Strategy & Leadership: Develop and lead Harlyn’s marketing and communications strategy in alignment with the company’s commercial growth objectives. Work closely with senior leadership to identify strategic priorities, market opportunities, and positioning initiatives that strengthen Harlyn’s profile across target sectors and regions. Build and continuously improve marketing systems, processes, and reporting to create a scalable and commercially effective marketing function.
  • Communications & Brand: Act as the lead guardian of the Harlyn brand, ensuring consistency, quality, and professionalism across all communications, channels, events and touchpoints. Develop messaging and communication frameworks that clearly articulate Harlyn’s expertise, values, culture, and differentiators.
  • Content: Lead the development of high-quality case studies, project stories, campaign content, and industry communications that showcase the scale, complexity, and technical excellence of Harlyn’s work.
  • Digital: Own and oversee the Harlyn website, working with the marketing officer to ensure content remains current, well‑structured, optimised, and reflective of the company’s quality and ambition.
  • Internal Communications & Organisational Engagement: Develop and improve internal communication processes and channels across the business.
  • Business Development Support: Support the business development and tendering function with compelling credentials, presentations, case studies, photography, and supporting marketing materials.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Industry Presence: Represent Harlyn at industry events, conferences, stakeholder meetings, and networking opportunities.

Qualifications & Expertise:
  • Proven experience in a Marketing Manager, Senior Marketing Manager role – either internally or for an agency.
  • Strong strategic thinking capability combined with a hands‑on approach to execution and delivery.
  • Willingness to work in a nimble, fast paced environment and be on‑site at project locations and events to capture content and build a genuine understanding of Harlyn’s operations.
  • Experience developing marketing strategies that support commercial growth and brand positioning.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify and communicate complex technical subject matter effectively.
  • Experience leading internal communications initiatives and improving organisational engagement is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media strategy, content development, and website management.
  • Commercially aware, organised, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced operational environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship‑building skills across all levels of an organisation.
  • Comfortable working autonomously while collaborating closely with senior leadership and managing wider marketing function.
  • Experience within construction, engineering, infrastructure, offshore, energy, logistics, or industrial sectors is advantageous but not essential for the right candidate.
