Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Class 2 HGV Driver to join our team at Harlow Timber Systems (Eastern). The Class 2 HGV Driver will play a crucial role in our operations, responsible for the safe and timely delivery of our products to customers. The ideal candidate will possess a valid Class 2 HGV license, have an excellent driving record, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

What you’ll be doing as a Class 2 HGV Driver

  • Product Delivery: Safely operate a Class 2 HGV vehicle to transport engineered trusses and I-beams to customer locations. Ensure the secure loading and unloading of products using appropriate equipment and techniques.
  • Route Planning: Efficiently plan delivery routes to minimize travel time and maximize productivity. Familiarize yourself with delivery schedules, customer locations, and any specific delivery instructions.
  • Vehicle Inspection: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the HGV vehicle to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with safety regulations. Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Complete delivery paperwork accurately and promptly, including delivery notes, invoices, and customer signatures. Maintain organized records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel consumption.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, including courteous interaction with customers and prompt resolution of any delivery-related issues or concerns. Always represent the company in a professional manner.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company safety policies while operating the HGV vehicle. Use appropriate safety equipment and secure loads properly to prevent accidents or damage.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and customers regarding delivery schedules, delays, or other relevant information.

Your Skills

  • Valid Class 2 HGV driving license (Class 1 is an advantage).
  • FOR’s qualifications would be an advantage, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • Previous experience driving HGV vehicles, preferably in a delivery or distribution role.
  • Knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for safe driving.
  • Excellent navigation skills and familiarity with GPS systems or route planning software.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to interact professionally with customers.
