Harley Street Ultrasound Group is an established private clinic in the heart of the Harley Street Medical District, rated “Good” by the CQC. We are known for delivering high-quality, patient-focused ultrasound services, using advanced imaging technology such as the GE Voluson E10 and Samsung Prestige S85. Our team includes five experienced sonographers and six dedicated radiology assistants, all committed to excellence in patient care.
We are now recruiting a Lead Sonographer with expertise in gynaecological and obstetric imaging to oversee both clinical practice and daily operations. Reporting directly to the Directors, you will play a key leadership role in shaping service delivery, ensuring clinical quality, and driving our vision for growth—including the development of new clinic sites.
The Role
As Lead Sonographer, you will combine hands-on clinical scanning with leadership, mentoring, and service oversight. You will ensure our scanning protocols and reporting standards reflect best practice, while supporting the sonography team in delivering complex scans and managing unexpected clinical findings. Your clinical expertise will underpin the quality of care we offer, while your leadership will help foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture.
In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations, including staff scheduling, performance reviews, and radiology assistant workflows. Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will ensure full compliance with CQC and HSE standards, lead on internal audits and service improvements, and help maintain or exceed our current CQC rating.
This role also includes a strategic element. You will work with the Directors on operational planning, monitor budgets and procurement needs, and contribute to the clinic’s growth plans. As we expand to new sites, you will play a central role in ensuring consistency and quality across locations.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking someone with HCPC and Society of Radiographers registration, as well as FMF certification in NT, NB, and DV. Managerial experience is preferable or a previous senior sonographer role, ideally with a background in private healthcare. Strong communication, organisational, and team management skills are essential, as is a deep understanding of clinical governance and regulatory compliance.
You’ll be confident in leading by example—setting high standards, offering mentorship, and managing both the patient experience and the practicalities of service delivery. If you are committed to continuous improvement and genuinely passionate about patient care, we want to hear from you.
Why Join Us?
At Harley Street Ultrasound Group, we offer more than just a role—we offer an opportunity to lead within a respected clinic that prioritises clinical integrity, innovation, and empathy. You’ll join a skilled, supportive team that values professionalism and collaboration, while working in a well-equipped, modern setting in the heart of London.
As part of our team, you’ll receive private health insurance, 28 days of annual leave (including bank holidays), optional private pension contributions, and access to funded CPD and leadership development opportunities. With future site expansions planned, this role offers a clear pathway to multi-site leadership for the right candidate.
