Harlequin Surgery are seeking a prescription clerk to join the team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative team focused on delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in a collaborative and supportive environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for processing repeat prescriptions, managing medication reviews, liaising with patients, pharmacies and clinicians, and ensuring prescriptions are issued safely and efficiently in line with practice and NHS guidelines.
Main duties of the job:- Processing repeat and acute prescription requests
- Monitoring medication reviews and blood tests
- Liaising with pharmacies and patients regarding queries
- Assisting with care home prescriptions

Job responsibilities:- REPORTS TO: PRESCRIPTION LEAD/PRACTICE MANAGER
- HOURS: 20 Must be flexible
The role is responsible for processing patient prescriptions in line with the practices Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring a safe, accurate, and efficient workflow. You will liaise closely with our lead prescription Clerk, Clinical Pharmacists, and community pharmacy teams to support effective medication management.
Key responsibilities include highlighting any issues or queries related to repeat prescriptions to the Lead prescription Clerk. You will also monitor medication review dates, confirming that reviews are completed when due and escalating any overdue reviews to the relevant teams. Additionally, you will handle prescription-related queries from a wide range of healthcare professionals, including GPs, nurse prescribers, community pharmacists, community nursing teams, carers, care homes, and internal reception/administration staff.
Person Specification:Experience:- Clerical background
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written
- Computer literate in the use of a windows-based PC
- Keyboard skills
- Ability to cope with more than one task at a time and move between tasks as required
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Competent in SystmOne is desirable but not essential, training will be given
- Experience working in GP Practice
