The Opportunity

Harkaye Core Talent is partnering with a leading UK law firm to recruit an experienced Senior Associate to join its highly regarded Court of Protection Property & Affairs team in London. This is an outstanding opportunity for a specialist Court of Protection lawyer looking to take the next step in their career within a collaborative and growing team. The successful candidate will manage a complex caseload of Property & Affairs matters, supporting vulnerable individuals who lack the capacity to manage their own financial affairs. Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a varied caseload of Court of Protection Property & Affairs matters.
  • Advising deputies, attorneys, family members, and vulnerable clients on a broad range of financial and welfare-related issues.
  • Preparing and progressing Court of Protection applications and related documentation.
  • Managing substantial client assets, including investments, property transactions, care packages, and ongoing financial arrangements.
  • Liaising with the Court of Protection, Office of the Public Guardian, financial advisers, case managers, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders.
  • Supporting the administration of personal injury and clinical negligence damages awards.
  • Assisting with deputyship management and ensuring compliance with all regulatory obligations.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior members of the team.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and professional contacts.
  • Contributing to business development initiatives and the continued growth of the department.

About You

You will be a technically strong and empathetic lawyer with a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable clients.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.
  • 6+ years' PQE with significant Court of Protection Property & Affairs experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Court of Protection procedures.
  • Experience managing complex deputyship matters and high-value client affairs.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to supervise and support junior colleagues.
  • Strong organisational and case management abilities.

Desirable

  • Experience acting as a professional deputy or supporting professional deputyships.
  • STEP qualification or a desire to work towards it.
  • Experience dealing with clients who have received substantial personal injury or clinical negligence settlements.
