Probate Solicitor / Legal Executive – Private Client
HarKaye Core Talent is currently partnering with a well-established and highly regarded Yorkshire law firm to recruit a Probate Solicitor / Legal Executive to join its growing Private Client team based in York.
This opportunity would suit either:
- A Newly Qualified Solicitor with experience in Wills & Probate, or
- An experienced Solicitor / Legal Executive looking to take the next step in their career.
You will be joining a supportive and collaborative team with a strong reputation for delivering exceptional client care across Private Client matters.
The Role
The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of Private Client matters including:
- Wills
- Probate and Estate Administration
- Lasting Powers of Attorney
- Client advisory work
- Supporting wider team matters where required
This role offers excellent long-term progression within a forward-thinking and people-focused legal environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing your own caseload of Private Client matters
- Taking initial client instructions and providing tailored legal advice
- Drafting Wills and preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney
- Administering estates and Probate matters
- Handling new client enquiries
- Supporting colleagues within the Private Client team
- Billing files and managing financial aspects of matters
- Maintaining up-to-date legal knowledge and compliance standards

- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
- Detail-oriented with strong technical accuracy
- Confident using legal systems and IT platforms
- Proactive with a positive and adaptable approach
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ experience within Wills & Probate preferred
- All levels of PQE considered
- Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with a current practising certificate (or equivalent)
- Full UK driving licence preferred
