Legal Aid Costs Draftsperson Remote | Flexible Working | Full-Time or Part-Time Considered Har Kaye Core Talent is working with a well-established law firm to recruit an experienced Legal Aid Costs Draftsperson .
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong legal aid costing experience who is looking for a genuinely flexible, fully remote role.
You will work closely with fee earners across the firm, ensuring legal aid matters are accurately costed and submitted in line with Legal Aid Agency requirements.
The Role As a Legal Aid Costs Draftsperson, you will be responsible for: Preparing and submitting legal aid bills through the CCMS.
Drafting claims for payment, including escape fee cases.
Preparing and managing high-cost case plans.
Reviewing files to ensure all chargeable work has been accurately captured.
Advising fee earners on legal aid costs, billing requirements and funding rules.
Dealing with Legal Aid Agency queries, reductions and rejected claims.
Preparing written representations and appeals against costs assessments where appropriate.
Monitoring claims and progressing outstanding payments.
Ensuring all submissions comply with current Legal Aid Agency guidance and deadlines.
Supporting the wider team with costs training and best-practice guidance.
About You We are looking for someone who has: Previous experience working as a Legal Aid Costs Draftsperson or Costs Lawyer.
Strong knowledge of Legal Aid Agency procedures and funding regulations.
Experience using CCMS.
The ability to prepare accurate bills and high-cost case plans.
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
Confidence communicating with fee earners and providing technical costs advice.
The ability to manage their own workload effectively while working remotely.
Experience across areas such as public law, family, childcare, housing, community care or claims against public authorities would be advantageous, although applications from all legal aid backgrounds are welcomed.
