Our client, a highly regarded law firm, is seeking an experienced Costs Specialist to join their established and supportive Costs Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a costs professional looking to develop their expertise across costs litigation, drafting, budgeting, and recovery, within a collaborative and experienced team environment.
About you:
- You will be an experienced Costs Draftsperson with particular experience dealing with high value/multi track personal injury and clinical negligence matters.
- Demonstrable experience using the Costs Master system.
- Strong IT skills and the ability to quickly adapt to new systems and technology.
- Ability to manage workload independently while contributing positively to a team environment, maintaining a proactive “can-do” attitude.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed and accurate Bills of Costs across a range of complex, high-value matters.
- Draft and submit Applications for Interim Payments where required.
- Produce Statements of Costs for Directions Questionnaires (Fast Track), Infant Approval Hearings, and Trial.
- Prepare Costs Budgets (Multi Track) and draft Points of Reply/Points of Dispute to Defendant Budgets as needed.
- Collate and prepare all documentation required for Provisional and Detailed Assessment.
- Instruct and brief Counsel for Detailed Assessments, ensuring all papers are lodged with Counsel and the Court within appropriate timeframes, and liaise throughout as needed.
- Manage Assessed Bills following Provisional or Detailed Assessment, ensuring timely filing with the Court.
- Handle all relevant Applications and comply with Court Orders, liaising with Fee Earners and Counsel where necessary.
- Work collaboratively with the Costs Manager and Finance Director on settlement matters where appropriate.
- Provide support and assistance to colleagues within the Costs Department as required.
