About the Opportunity
Harkaye Core Talent is recruiting for a Head of Abuse to lead a nationally recognised and expanding Abuse practice. This is a pivotal leadership role for a senior lawyer who combines technical excellence, strategic vision, and deep compassion for survivors of abuse. You will shape the future direction of the practice, lead high‑performing teams, and ensure the highest standards of legal delivery, client care, and ethical leadership.
The Role
As Head of Abuse, you will have full responsibility for the strategic, operational, and cultural leadership of the Abuse department. You will remain involved in complex, high‑value cases while driving growth, innovation, and best practice across the team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic leadership and direction for the Abuse practice
- Leading, mentoring, and developing multidisciplinary legal teams
- Maintaining oversight of complex and sensitive abuse claims
- Acting as a senior escalation point for high‑risk and high‑profile matters
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory, procedural, and funding requirements
- Driving performance, quality standards, and sustainable growth
- Developing trauma‑informed approaches to client care and case management
- Representing the practice externally with stakeholders, charities, and professional bodies
- Championing inclusion, wellbeing, and ethical legal practice
About You
You will be:
- A qualified solicitor in England & Wales
- Highly experienced in abuse‑related claims (including sexual abuse, institutional abuse, or complex personal injury)
- A proven leader or senior lawyer ready to step into a department‑head role
- Confident handling complex, emotionally sensitive, and high‑value cases
- Commercially astute with experience in team leadership and service development
- A calm, credible, and compassionate leader who commands trust
- Committed to survivor‑focused, trauma‑informed legal practice
- Experience working with historical abuse claims, vulnerable clients, or public interest litigation will be highly advantageous.
