About the Opportunity

Harkaye Core Talent is recruiting for an experienced Costs Draftsperson to join a specialist costs team supporting a range of contentious and non-contentious legal matters. This role offers exposure to high-quality, varied work, with autonomy, flexibility, and the opportunity to work closely with fee earners across multiple practice areas.

The Role

You will be responsible for drafting, negotiating, and managing legal costs matters, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong commercial outcomes. Key responsibilities include:

  • Drafting bills of costs (paper and electronic)
  • Preparing points of dispute and replies
  • Negotiating costs with opposing parties
  • Advising fee earners on costs recovery and risk
  • Managing costs budgets and costs management processes
  • Attending detailed assessment hearings where required
  • Ensuring compliance with procedural rules and deadlines
  • Maintaining accurate records and providing clear costs advice

About You

You will:

  • Have proven experience as a Costs Draftsperson (or be a qualified Costs Lawyer)
  • Have strong knowledge of CPR costs rules and procedures
  • Be confident drafting and negotiating bills of costs
  • Have excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Be commercially minded with strong communication skills
  • Be comfortable working autonomously and collaboratively

Experience supporting clinical negligence, personal injury, abuse, or complex litigation matters would be advantageous.
