An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Solicitor to join a highly regarded, specialist Public Law team recognised for its work across education, health, social care, and human rights.

You will manage a varied caseload of health and welfare matters under the Mental Capacity Act, acting for individuals who lack capacity and ensuring their rights, care, and best interests are protected.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advising on health and welfare issues under the Mental Capacity Act 2005
  • Managing Court of Protection applications relating to welfare, residence, care, and contact
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to clients, families, deputies, local authorities, and healthcare professionals
  • Drafting applications, statements, and legal documentation
  • Representing clients in hearings and meetings (where appropriate)
  • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Maintaining high standards of client care and professional conduct
Experience & Attributes Required:
  • A qualified solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent)
  • Experienced in health and welfare / Court of Protection work
  • Confident handling sensitive matters with empathy and professionalism
  • Knowledgeable in the Mental Capacity Act and related legislation
  • Able to manage your own caseload with minimal supervision
  • A strong communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
  • Experience across care disputes, deprivation of liberty, serious medical treatment decisions, or best interests applications would be highly advantageous
