An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Solicitor to join a highly regarded, specialist Public Law team recognised for its work across education, health, social care, and human rights.
You will manage a varied caseload of health and welfare matters under the Mental Capacity Act, acting for individuals who lack capacity and ensuring their rights, care, and best interests are protected.
Key Responsibilities:- Advising on health and welfare issues under the Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Managing Court of Protection applications relating to welfare, residence, care, and contact
- Acting as a trusted advisor to clients, families, deputies, local authorities, and healthcare professionals
- Drafting applications, statements, and legal documentation
- Representing clients in hearings and meetings (where appropriate)
- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Maintaining high standards of client care and professional conduct
- A qualified solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent)
- Experienced in health and welfare / Court of Protection work
- Confident handling sensitive matters with empathy and professionalism
- Knowledgeable in the Mental Capacity Act and related legislation
- Able to manage your own caseload with minimal supervision
- A strong communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
- Experience across care disputes, deprivation of liberty, serious medical treatment decisions, or best interests applications would be highly advantageous
