The role:
You will be handling a varied criminal defence caseload, with exposure across the full spectrum of criminal work. Day to day, you will be:
- Managing your own criminal defence caseload from start to finish
- Representing clients at Police Stations and Magistrates & Crown Court
- Preparing cases for trial, including advocacy where appropriate
- Advising clients clearly and practically throughout proceedings
- Drafting legal documents, instructions to counsel, and case strategies
- Working closely with colleagues to ensure seamless client service
- Building trusted relationships with clients, counsel, and court staff
About you:
- Qualified Criminal Defence Solicitor (or equivalent experience)
- Comfortable running your own caseload
- Practical, client-focused, and calm under pressure
- Someone who values teamwork but doesn’t need hand-holding
