The role:

You will be handling a varied criminal defence caseload, with exposure across the full spectrum of criminal work. Day to day, you will be:

  • Managing your own criminal defence caseload from start to finish
  • Representing clients at Police Stations and Magistrates & Crown Court
  • Preparing cases for trial, including advocacy where appropriate
  • Advising clients clearly and practically throughout proceedings
  • Drafting legal documents, instructions to counsel, and case strategies
  • Working closely with colleagues to ensure seamless client service
  • Building trusted relationships with clients, counsel, and court staff

About you:

  • Qualified Criminal Defence Solicitor (or equivalent experience)
  • Comfortable running your own caseload
  • Practical, client-focused, and calm under pressure
  • Someone who values teamwork but doesn’t need hand-holding
