Reporting to the Management Accountant and Financial Controller, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end processes, and ensuring the integrity of balance sheet reconciliations across multiple entities. We're looking for a proactive individual who enjoys problem-solving, investigating discrepancies, and delivering accurate financial information. You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to the adoption of AI-driven tools and technologies that are helping shape the future of finance.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain nominal ledger integrity across multiple entities
- Prepare and post journals, including accruals, prepayments, and month-end adjustments
- Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and investigate reconciling items
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Reconcile control accounts and ensure financial records remain accurate and complete
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities
- Assist with audit preparation and respond to auditor queries
- Identify opportunities to improve financial controls and accounting processes
- Work closely with the Management Accountant to deliver accurate and timely financial reporting
- Support wider finance projects and business initiatives
- Assist with the implementation and use of AI-driven tools within the finance function
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- At least 3 years' experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance position
- AAT qualification or be actively studying towards ACCA, CIMA, or ACA
- Strong balance sheet reconciliation experience
- Excellent understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles
- Experience posting journals, accruals, prepayments, and month-end adjustments
- Strong understanding of month-end accounting processes
- Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUPs, SUMIFS, and data analysis
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- The ability to investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies independently
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships across the business
- A self-motivated approach and the ability to thrive in a fully remote environment
