Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site MOT Tester / Technician role based at Harish's Auto Services t/a as Welywn Auto Centre in Welwyn Garden City.

The role involves carrying out MOT tests in line with current regulations, performing routine servicing, and undertaking mechanical repairs on a wide range of vehicles.

Day-to-day tasks include using diagnostic equipment and computerised wheel alignment systems to identify and resolve faults, completing accurate inspection and test reports, and ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards.

The MOT Tester / Technician will collaborate with colleagues to manage workshop workloads, maintain a clean and organized work environment, and communicate clearly with the service team about vehicle issues and required work.

Qualifications

  • Valid MOT tester qualification and current DVSA license, with proven experience conducting MOTs on cars and light commercial vehicles.
  • Strong mechanical and technical skills, including vehicle servicing, repairs, diagnostics, and use of modern workshop equipment.
  • Good understanding of vehicle safety standards, MOT regulations, and manufacturer guidelines, with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a busy workshop environment, managing time and priorities while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Clear communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach when liaising with service advisors and vehicle owners.
