Job Description
Starting salary: PO2 (£42,771 – £45,750)

About the role: As a Management Information & Payments Officer within the Financial Administration team you will support the delivery of high‑quality, accurate financial information across all levels of the council. You will maintain and deliver complex financial management data, ensure all outgoing payments meet contractual and regulatory requirements, and support compliance with internal and external standards. Working closely with finance, procurement, and audit departments, you will analyse financial data, prepare statutory returns, and provide expert advice that enables effective decision‑making and value for money. Your work will directly contribute to the council’s ability to monitor its financial position, meet reporting obligations, and achieve both tactical and strategic objectives while upholding data integrity and confidentiality.
About the team: The Financial Administration team is a dedicated and collaborative group within the Finance & Resources directorate. We support colleagues at all levels—from business unit administrators to Corporate Directors and the Chief Executive—by providing robust reporting, expert data analysis, and guidance that underpins effective decision‑making. The team operates in a dynamic environment where compliance, continuous improvement, and data integrity are central. You’ll join a supportive and professional team that values accountability, innovation, and a commitment to upholding the council’s financial standards.
About You
You are a detail‑oriented and analytical professional with experience in financial administration or data management, ideally within the public sector. You excel at interpreting complex financial data, producing clear and concise reports, and communicating effectively with a range of stakeholders. Confident in using Excel and financial systems, you work well both independently and collaboratively and can manage multiple deadlines under pressure. Experience with Power BI and familiarity with public sector reporting are considered desirable assets.
