Haringey is recruiting talented and ambitious Mental Health social workers who are motivated and have the passion and ability to work with adults experiencing mental ill health. Roles
Haringey’s social workers are based either in the Mental Health Trust working alongside a wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure the holistic needs of our service users are met, or within the Council’s Mental Health Service. This team undertakes care act assessments and annual statutory reviews and supports residents moving into more independent accommodation. Depending on the role, you will be mainly based either at St Anne’s Hospital or Station Road, Wood Green.
About you
You will bring the principles of professionalism, ambition, accountability, dignity, respect, empathy, and a strength based, collaborative approach to service delivery. You will be expected to have an excellent understanding of the legislation relevant to the role, specifically the:
- Care Act 2014
- Mental Health Act 1983
- Mental Capacity Act 2005
And be able to work in accordance with the legislative principles and any other relevant guidance or case law.
Key competencies (You will need)
- Excellent assessment skills
- Be able to work with service user and carers in times of crisis
- Work with individuals and families in an outcome focused way using a Strength Based approach
- To manage a caseload of varied complexity
- To work within, and advocate for, principles of non-discriminatory practice to ensure equality of access for service users with mental ill health to mainstream provision where appropriate
- To be able to establish and maintain links with professionals from other services and sectors of the community
- A current and up to date knowledge of research, policies and best practice which you will maintain throughout your time in Haringey
- A commitment to continued learning and professional development
- To be willing to contribute to the smooth running of the team and support with team development
Qualifications
A qualification in Social Work is essential for this post as is experience of working with adults with mental ill health.
Additional information
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. An enhanced disclosure check with the DBS will be undertaken.
