This includes teaching children’s lessons, adult and child pre‑school classes, and supporting school swimming sessions and Haringey Aquatics club activities. You will be responsible for planning lessons, preparing equipment, maintaining accurate progression records, ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed, and helping to promote and grow the learn‑to‑swim programme. You may also deliver specialist sessions such as technique clinics, outdoor swimming classes, or mermaid swimming activities based on community needs.
About the team
You will be joining a dedicated team within the Environment and Resident Experience Directorate, working closely with Operations Managers, Centre Managers, Duty Managers and community engagement staff. Your role will support a busy and inclusive programme delivered across multiple leisure centres, including Park Road Leisure Centre and Lido, Tottenham Green Leisure Centre, and other pools within the borough. The team is committed to providing accessible, inclusive and high‑quality swimming opportunities for children, adults, schools, home‑educated learners and those with additional needs. Evening and weekend work is required to meet community demand.
About you

You must hold a Level 2 Swim England qualification (or equivalent) and have a clear understanding of the Swim England Learn to Swim framework. You’ll be able to work well as part of a team, communicate sensitively with customers, provide constructive feedback to pupils and parents, and uphold high standards of safety and professionalism. A DBS check is required, and an NPLQ or National Rescue Award is desirable. You must also be willing to work evenings and weekends, cover colleagues when needed, and deliver lessons across different Haringey leisure sites.
