About the role
We are looking for a proactive and reliable Site Manager to join Stonecroft Nursery. Reporting to the Nursery Coordinator, you will take day-to-day responsibility for the security, safety, maintenance and presentation of the nursery site. This is a varied, hands-on role where you will ensure the premises provide a safe, secure and welcoming environment for children, staff, parents and visitors. Responsibilities include managing site security, acting as a keyholder, undertaking minor repairs and maintenance, monitoring heating, lighting and ventilation systems, carrying out health and safety checks, coordinating contractors, and ensuring the grounds and outdoor areas are maintained to a high standard.
About the team
Stonecroft Nursery is part of the Children and Young People’s Services Schools and Learning Directorate and is committed to providing high-quality early years education and care. As Site Manager, you will work closely with the Nursery Coordinator and wider nursery team to ensure the environment supports children’s learning, development and wellbeing. You will liaise with colleagues, contractors and external agencies including landlords, emergency services and health and safety professionals, playing a vital role in keeping the nursery operating safely and efficiently every day.
About you
We are looking for someone with basic literacy and numeracy skills, a willingness to undertake training, and a good understanding of health and safety requirements, cleaning standards and safe working practices, including manual handling. You will be able to carry out basic repairs and maintenance, work independently using your own initiative, and demonstrate strong organisational, time management and communication skills. You will also be confident responding calmly and effectively to emergencies, maintaining accurate records, and taking responsibility for the security and upkeep of the site. Experience or qualifications in areas such as health and safety, first aid, fire safety, building maintenance or caretaking would be advantageous but are not essential.
