About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer – Street Lighting to join our team. In this key role, you will lead the design and implementation of new street lighting schemes while managing the borough’s existing infrastructure. Your responsibilities include developing solutions to highway lighting challenges, conducting surveys, designing projects, preparing cost estimates, and procuring works through contractors. This is a great chance to enhance safety, sustainability, and efficiency across the network while making a lasting impact on the borough’s street lighting strategy.
About the team
You will be a member of the street lighting team that sit under the Highways Improvements Team. The team roles include design and checking of designs, contract administration of the term contractor, financial control, the measurement and valuation of works, agreement of variations and accounts, attending site works for meetings and inspections. Your main duties will include that of design, project management and supervision of highway lighting works.
About you
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual with a positive attitude to provide technical support in the design of street lighting elements for a range of improvement schemes, including traffic, highways, and public realm projects. The ideal candidate will have experience assisting officers, project teams, and developers with street lighting design across various schemes. This is a challenging yet rewarding role, suited to someone who is passionate about street lighting and thrives in a collaborative environment.
