About the Role

The Principal Highway Engineer will take a major role in the development of a strategic approach to the management of the Council’s highway assets, the lead in reviewing design and consultation, along with the delivery of any assigned work. The works will include major planned and responsive maintenance on footways, drainage and carriageways and any externally funded projects from legal agreements or through regeneration projects. Within the Highways Service we have several new permanent positions that will help us to continue to keep the highways network safe while supporting the economic growth of the borough.
