About Haringey

Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture. Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community‑focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.

About the role

As a Contracts & Property Negotiator, you will play a key role in securing, managing and improving temporary accommodation across the borough. You will lead on sourcing new properties, negotiating contracts and rents with landlords and agents, and ensuring accommodation meets required standards and delivers value for money. The role is highly varied — combining procurement, property inspection and stakeholder engagement — and gives you real influence over housing supply and outcomes for residents. You will also manage existing contracts, carry out property inspections, and ensure all accommodation complies with legal, safety and quality standards while supporting wider housing objectives.

About the team

You will join a proactive Housing Demand service focused on increasing the supply of high‑quality temporary accommodation and supporting residents in housing need. The team works closely with internal services, landlords, agents and external partners to deliver practical, responsive solutions in a fast‑paced environment. Collaboration is central — you’ll work alongside colleagues in tenancy management, homelessness services and housing supply, contributing to innovative approaches that maximise available housing options and improve outcomes across the borough.

About you

You will have experience in housing, property or a related field, with a strong understanding of contract management, procurement or lettings. A confident communicator and negotiator, you are able to build effective relationships with landlords, agents and stakeholders while managing competing priorities. You will have a good understanding of property standards, relevant housing legislation and the importance of compliance, alongside strong organisational and analytical skills. Adaptable and solution‑focused, you thrive in a changing environment and are motivated by making a tangible difference in the delivery of housing services.
