About the role
As a Duty Manager, you will take the lead in the day‑to‑day operation of a busy, community‑focused facility. You will oversee shifts, ensuring the centre runs safely, efficiently and to a high standard, including opening and closing the building, supervising staff and managing operations on the ground. You will play a key role in maintaining health and safety standards, carrying out checks, monitoring cleaning and reporting issues, while also stepping in to support lifeguarding and front‑line operations when required. This is a hands‑on role where you will lead by example, respond to incidents, support customer needs and help deliver an excellent leisure experience for all users.
About the team
You will be part of Haringey’s Leisure Services within the Environment and Resident Experience directorate, working alongside a team of Duty Managers, Recreation Assistants and customer service colleagues. The team is focused on delivering high‑quality, inclusive services that support health, wellbeing and community engagement. You will work collaboratively with operational and back‑office teams to promote services, resolve issues and enhance customer experience, in a fast‑paced environment that operates seven days a week, including evenings and weekends.
About you
You will be a proactive and reliable individual with experience in a leisure, sport or customer‑focused environment, and a strong understanding of health and safety requirements. You will hold (or be willing to maintain) relevant qualifications such as NPLQ and First Aid, and be confident supervising staff and supporting service delivery. With excellent communication skills and a customer‑focused mindset, you can build positive relationships with a diverse range of users while remaining calm and professional under pressure. Flexible and team‑oriented, you are motivated to deliver high standards and contribute to the smooth running and success of the centre.
