About the role
We are looking for a passionate and proactive Dementia Co-ordinator to join our Adult Social Care team. In this rewarding role, you will lead and support a range of initiatives that help make Haringey a more dementia-friendly borough. You will work closely with residents, carers, community groups, health professionals, voluntary sector organisations and local businesses to raise awareness, improve understanding of dementia, and encourage organisations to make their services more accessible and inclusive for people living with dementia. You will also develop and deliver training, build partnerships, create community pathways, and champion co-production to ensure the voices of people affected by dementia are at the heart of service development.
About the team
You will be part of the Adults, Health & Communities Directorate, working within Adult Social Services to support Haringey’s commitment to becoming a more dementia-friendly borough. The Dementia Co-ordinator plays a key role in bringing together local organisations, community groups, health partners and residents to improve outcomes for people living with dementia and their carers in Haringey. Working closely with the Team Manager, Alzheimer’s Society, health professionals, community organisations and local stakeholders, you will help build strong partnerships, promote dementia awareness, encourage collaborative action, and support the development of dementia-friendly services across Haringey.
About you
We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of dementia and its impact on individuals, carers and families, alongside excellent communication and relationship-building skills. You will have the ability to develop and deliver dementia awareness training, engage confidently with a wide range of audiences, and build effective partnerships across communities and organisations. Essential to the role is the ability to communicate with credibility and empathy, work independently, stay organised, and use your initiative to manage projects and activities. You will also have strong networking and influencing skills, a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, and be confident using Microsoft Office applications, including MS Teams.
