We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher of science to teach in the Science department across Haringey Learning Partnership. For students who access our provisions, we believe that they are entitled to the very best educational and extra-curricular experiences. The science department at HLP is a key part of what Ofsted described as our ‘first class educational experience’, led by an award-winning Science Lead, and achieves outstanding results for our young people with 62% of the 2025 cohort achieving a 4+ in GCSE combined science.
This role will play a key part in the continuing development of the department, by helping to develop and provide an enriching, bespoke, and varied curriculum for our young people. It is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in increasing engagement in science, both with young people in the classroom and with our wider community.
The science curriculum at HLP intends to open the door on science for all, regardless of their starting point, to provide students with opportunities to experience a sense of wonder and awe in science, challenge stereotypes of ‘what a scientist looks like’ and prior negative experiences of science. Practical science is a key component of our curriculum, and we are proud of the work that has happened recently at Harring together to ensure our students can take part in experiments in the same way as their peers in mainstream schools would.
We are looking for a science teacher with a passion for improving education for marginalised young people. Candidates should believe that young people who have been excluded or faced challenges in mainstream education deserve a high-quality education, to feel valued and cared for, and to have teachers who believe in them. Flexibility of approach is a key part of the role, and we seek candidates with excellent classroom practice, particularly in supporting access to the curriculum for SEND students and students with large gaps in their education.
Experience with SEND and/or students with large gaps in their education. Experience working across KS3 and KS4. Background in primary science education and considering a move to secondary is welcomed.
