  • Working pattern: Full-time, 36 hours (Hybrid)

Role Overview

This role provides leadership for Haringey’s dedicated team supporting refugees, vulnerable migrants and people seeking asylum, backing the team, wider council, and partners to deliver proactive, accessible and compassionate services for all vulnerable migrants in Haringey. The role is key in driving the delivery of Haringey’s Welcome Strategy – continuously improving culture and practice so that newly arrived residents can integrate and thrive in Haringey.

The Resettlement Programme Lead will manage operational managers in the Resettlement Team, fostering a culture of safe, person‑centred, holistic support for our residents and promoting staff wellbeing and development at all times. The role will manage relationships with key partners across the council, public sector, and voluntary and community sector (VCS) with honesty and sensitivity, building on strong existing collaborative working. The role will also lead on commissioning and financial planning for the service, as well as relationship management with central and regional government, including completing accurate and timely quarterly returns to ensure continuation of funding for the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a dedicated Resettlement Team, ensuring safe and person‑centred support for residents.
  • Manage operational managers and promote staff wellbeing and professional development.
  • Build and maintain relationships with partners across council, public sector and VCS, fostering collaborative working.
  • Commission, financially plan and manage the service, ensuring accurate quarterly returns for continued funding.
  • Drive the delivery of the Welcome Strategy, improving culture and practice for newly arrived residents.
  • Operate strategically and operationally in a politically sensitive environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong programme management skills.
  • Ability to work across a range of stakeholders spanning vulnerable residents through to directors and elected members.
  • Creativity and innovation with a strategic mindset to maximize opportunities within limited funding.
  • Ability to work under pressure, responding to and implementing changes in guidance and operational contexts.
  • Awareness of the legislative landscape, and the issues facing refugees, people seeking asylum and vulnerable migrants.
  • Understanding of discrimination and marginalisation impacts, with confidence in working with disadvantaged communities.
  • Confidence to operate in a politically sensitive environment, with an understanding of or the ability to quickly learn how local government operates.
