A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture. Our history champions change‑makers and everyday rebels; reveling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.

About The Role

We’re seeking an experienced and driven Renewable Energy Officer to lead the delivery and expansion of renewable energy initiatives across the Council’s estate. In this role, you’ll manage an existing portfolio of solar PV systems, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently while maximising financial returns. You’ll also identify and develop new renewable opportunities, secure funding, and project manage installations from concept through to completion—delivering projects on time and within budget. This is a key position in helping to increase energy resilience, reduce costs, and support the borough’s sustainability ambitions.

About The Team

You’ll be part of the Energy Team within the Resilience, Operational Building Management and Safety service, working closely with the Energy Manager and wider corporate teams. The team collaborates across departments including housing, schools, procurement, and finance, as well as with community groups and external partners. Together, you’ll drive forward innovative energy solutions, support community‑led initiatives, and play a central role in delivering the Council’s environmental and energy strategies.

About You

You’re a knowledgeable and motivated professional with a strong background in renewable energy, particularly solar PV systems. With proven experience in delivering renewable projects and managing contractors, you bring excellent project management and communication skills, enabling you to engage both technical and non‑technical audiences. You’re confident working independently, can manage budgets and funding streams, and are passionate about driving sustainable change. A relevant degree or equivalent experience, along with a commitment to innovation and collaboration, will set you up for success in this role.
