The Role

You will be responsible for carrying out inspections of occupied and void properties, diagnosing repairs, and scheduling works through an agreed schedule of rates or, where not possible, preparing a specification of works and obtaining quotations. You will work with colleagues across the Housing Demand Service to ensure PSL properties meet current lettable standards and are repaired within the agreed timescales and budget provisions. You will assess issues and risks and make decisions to mitigate risks to ensure the safety of the customer and property.

You will assist in maintaining and ensuring the PSL void properties are compliant and ready for tenants. You will be responsible for the handback of Homes for Haringey and Council Leasing properties, leading on dilapidation and disrepair claims from inception to completion.

The Temporary Accommodation Service is responsible for procuring properties used as temporary accommodation for homeless households and for managing relationships with and contracts with temporary accommodation providers, ensuring a sufficient supply of good quality, reasonably priced accommodation.

This role sits within the Contracts & Procurement Team, which manages our temporary and emergency accommodation provision and contracts, overseeing delivery of reasonably priced temporary housing to meet identified demand. Building and maintaining relationships with providers and agents, as well as carrying out inspections and following up on repairs and property conditions, is a key element of the role.

About You

You will be required to successfully manage projects and work with contractors to ensure work is completed to a satisfactory standard. You will need the ability to build strong and meaningful relationships with colleagues and contractors, as well as tact, diplomacy and negotiation skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to achieve defined performance targets are required.

Experience with building works, dealing with voids and disrepair, and dilapidation/handbacks is desirable. Surveying qualifications – RICS, CIOB.

Applicants must drive and have a valid UK driving licence.
