About the Role
As a Portage Visitor, you will support young children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families to achieve positive outcomes in the early years.
You will work in families’ homes, delivering high‑quality Portage support to children under five, building strong relationships with parents and carers, and empowering them with the skills and confidence to support their child’s development.
Responsibilities
- Assess children’s needs and plan tailored interventions.
- Maintain accurate records of progress and outcomes.
- Collaborate with health and education professionals to coordinate a multi‑agency approach.
- Support smooth transitions into early years settings and schools.
- Help families connect with local communities to promote inclusion and participation.
- About the Team
You will be part of Haringey’s Early Years Inclusion Team within Early Help, Prevention & SEND, working closely with health professionals, early years providers, schools and voluntary organisations to deliver coordinated, holistic support.

- Experience working with young children with SEND and their families.
- Solid understanding of child development and inclusive practice.
- Compassionate, flexible practitioner who builds meaningful relationships.
- Effective communicator with strong organisational skills, able to manage an independent caseload.
- Committed to safeguarding, equality and continuous professional development.
