Site Services and Network Engineer

Join Our Digital Infrastructure Team

Starting salary: PO3 £44,331 to £47,532

Work Location: Wood Green / Hybrid

Hours per week: Full Time

Contract type: Permanent

Are you passionate about maintaining and enhancing network infrastructure? We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Site Services and Network Engineer to join our Digital Infrastructure Team.

About the Role

As a Site Services and Network Engineer, you will work alongside our IT team to ensure the seamless operation of our network systems and services. Your role will involve managing network infrastructure, troubleshooting network issues, and optimizing our digital environment to support the organization’s needs.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide first-tier support for network-related issues, including troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software problems.
  • Manage and maintain network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Configure and install network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Monitor network performance and implement improvements as needed.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to design and implement network solutions that meet organizational requirements.
  • Produce user guides and training materials related to network usage and best practices.
  • Deliver online and face-to-face training to users on network policies and procedures.
  • Attend planning meetings and provide accurate task estimations for network projects.
  • Test, maintain, upgrade, and extend existing network functionality, ensuring it is fit for purpose and follows best practices.
  • Escalate complex network issues to senior engineers, providing qualitative and detailed information.
  • Develop and document network solutions, ensuring all tasks are delivered at a high quality, on time, and provide an excellent user experience.
  • Provide out-of-hours support if required for critical network issues affecting services and solutions.
  • Maintain and adhere to network standards and best practices as agreed by the senior IT team.
  • Ensure potential network risks and issues are identified and mitigation plans are in place.
  • Be an advocate for the IT team, positively promoting our services and outcomes.

  • Experience in managing and troubleshooting network infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in configuring and installing network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols and best practices.
  • Experience working in a support role, managing incoming network support requests from users.

  • Proficient in creating technical documentation related to network infrastructure.
  • Skilled at communicating technical problems and solutions using non-technical language.
  • Ability to quickly research, learn, and apply new network tools and techniques.
