A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture. Our history champions change‑makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community‑focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Social Worker to join our Vulnerable, Violence, Exploitation & Edge of Care Service, working with some of Haringey’s most vulnerable children and young people. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference by supporting young people who are at risk of, or involved in, serious youth violence, criminal exploitation, county lines activity, child sexual exploitation and gang‑related harm.

You will undertake direct, relationship‑based work with young people and their families, providing intensive interventions that reduce risk, build resilience, and support positive life outcomes. Through robust assessment, planning and multi‑agency collaboration, you will identify safeguarding concerns, develop targeted support plans and help young people safely exit exploitative situations.

Working closely with education providers, social care teams, police, health services, youth justice and community organisations, you will ensure children and young people receive coordinated support that keeps them engaged in education, training, employment and positive activities. As a Senior Social Worker, you will also contribute professional expertise to complex case discussions, safeguarding processes, and service development initiatives that strengthen outcomes for vulnerable young people across the borough.

About The Team

Haringey’s Vulnerable, Violence, Exploitation & Edge of Care Service is a dynamic, specialist service committed to safeguarding children and young people affected by violence, exploitation and contextual safeguarding risks. The team delivers intensive outreach and targeted interventions for young people at risk of serious youth violence, group‑related offending, county lines involvement, child criminal exploitation, child sexual exploitation and those who are missing, vulnerable or at risk of harm. Working within a multi‑agency framework, we build trusted relationships with young people, families and partners to reduce risk, improve safety and create pathways to brighter futures.

About You

You are a passionate and committed Social Worker who is driven by improving outcomes for vulnerable children and young people. You will bring expertise in safeguarding adolescents at risk of exploitation, alongside the ability to build trusted relationships and work collaboratively across a range of agencies. With a resilient and child‑centred approach, you will be confident supporting young people with complex needs and committed to helping them achieve positive, sustainable change.

You Will Have

  • Social Work England registration and a recognised Social Work qualification.
  • Significant experience working with children, young people and families within statutory safeguarding services.
  • Sound knowledge of child criminal exploitation, child sexual exploitation, county lines, serious youth violence, gangs, contextual safeguarding and adolescent risk.
  • Experience of undertaking complex assessments, safety planning, risk management and delivering targeted interventions.
  • A strong understanding of relevant legislation, statutory guidance and safeguarding frameworks relating to children and young people.
  • Experience of working effectively within multi‑agency partnerships, including social care, education, police, health and youth justice services.
  • The ability to engage and build positive, trusting relationships with young people who may be resistant to services or difficult to engage.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, report‑writing and case management skills.
  • A strengths‑based, trauma‑informed and restorative approach to practice.
  • The resilience, adaptability and professional curiosity needed to work within a fast‑paced and challenging specialist service.
  • A commitment to promoting the welfare, safety and aspirations of children and young people and achieving the best possible outcomes for them.
