About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic Health & Fitness Manager to lead our membership sales and engagement team in creating a welcoming, safe, and inspiring environment across Haringey's leisure centres. You will oversee recruitment and training of instructors, manage programme development, and ensure our gyms and studios deliver high‐quality exercise opportunities for residents of all ages and abilities. From shaping onboarding processes that make each new member feel valued to developing innovative group exercise programmes and monitoring performance data, you will play a pivotal role in increasing participation, boosting retention, and improving community health outcomes. This hands‐on leadership role balances operational excellence with creative programme development, ensuring our facilities remain vibrant, reliable, and customer‐focused.

About the Team

You will join the Wellbeing and Climate/Active Wellbeing business unit, working closely with the Area Manager for Leisure Centres and collaborating with colleagues across leisure, communications, and customer relations. Your immediate team includes Membership Sales Advisors and a Leisure Engagement and Sales Officer, whom you will guide to deliver outstanding customer experiences and measurable results. Together, you will connect with local community groups, voluntary organisations, and external suppliers to maximise the impact of our gyms and studios. As part of the wider leisure management team, you will contribute to achieving industry awards such as Quest, while ensuring our centres remain at the forefront of health and fitness provision in Haringey.

About You

You are an experienced fitness professional with a proven track record in membership growth, retention, and programme development. Essential qualifications include a CIMSPA‐accredited Level 2 Gym Instructor course; you also bring strong knowledge of gym equipment, health‐related impacts of physical activity, and financial monitoring. You are confident in recruiting and training staff, managing customer enquiries, and delivering promotional campaigns. Excellent communication skills, flexibility to work evenings and occasional weekends, and a passion for improving community wellbeing are key. Desirable qualifications such as Level 3 or 4 CIMSPA accreditations in specialist areas (e.g., Pilates, strength and conditioning, nutrition) will further enhance your ability to deliver diverse programmes. Above all, you are motivated by the challenge of creating engaging fitness environments that inspire residents to lead healthier, more active lives.
