About the role We're looking for an experienced Deputy Principal Lawyer (Litigation) to join our Legal Services team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive to lead on a varied and complex litigation caseload, including housing, enforcement, judicial review, licensing, debt recovery, commercial property and anti-social behaviour matters.

You'll provide strategic legal advice to senior officers, elected members and key stakeholders, represent the Council in court where required, and play a key role in shaping policy and delivering high-quality legal services in a dynamic local government environment.

About the team Legal Services is a highly regarded, collaborative team at the heart of the organisation, supporting the Council's priorities and helping to deliver positive outcomes for residents.

Working closely with senior leaders, elected members and colleagues across the Council, you'll contribute to significant projects, influence decision-making and help drive continuous improvement.

As a member of the Legal Services management team, you'll lead and develop a team of legal professionals, promote knowledge sharing and innovation, and ensure the service continues to deliver excellent, customer-focused legal support About you You'll be a qualified legal professional with substantial experience managing complex litigation matters and expertise across multiple areas of law.

You'll bring strong advocacy, drafting and advisory skills, alongside the ability to provide commercially focused legal solutions in a politically sensitive environment.

With previous supervisory or management experience, you'll be confident leading and developing teams, managing competing priorities and building effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
