Position: Classroom Teacher: ASD and Complex Needs KS 1 and 2

Hours of work: Full and Part Time (0.8) considered – Term Time Only

Contract: Fixed Term Contract ending 31/08/2026

All of our children have complex learning needs and disabilities including ASD, ADHD, Sensory, complex social, emotional and behavioural needs and are taught a bespoke modified national curriculum by highly professional teaching and support staff.

The Governors are looking for a highly skilled practitioner with experience of teaching children with complex special needs and a passion for promoting lifelong learning so that our children are equipped to lead the lives they wish to live into adulthood.

The BILC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All posts are subject to pre-employment checks. References will be sought and successful candidates will need to undertake an enhanced DBS check.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Be an outstanding special needs classroom practitioner with at least two years’ experience working in a special school or resource base; they will have the interpersonal skills to manage a large class team and to work collaboratively with multi-agency staff; with the mainstream primary school and with parents/carers.
  • Be able to develop and maintain effective, professional relationships with all key stakeholders.
  • Have a clear focus on achievement, progress and improving outcomes for pupils with additional needs and know what factors allow these children to progress.
  • Have proven experience with challenging behaviour and interventions; understanding and mitigating barriers to learning.
  • Have a proven understanding of safeguarding protocols in line with KCSIE, be committed to the application of the principles in daily professional practice.
  • Be committed to inclusion and to enabling all pupils to succeed in all areas of their educational experiences in school and out in the wider community.
  • Be committed to participating in Continuous Professional Development.
