A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture. Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.

About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the LADO Service with the focus and concentration on children’s protection from harm in education. The Education LADO advises schools and education professionals from Early Years through to 18 on the protection and safety of children in education settings. The Education LADO role is a statutory role which coordinates and manages allegations of harm against professionals within the field of education. It is a busy, challenging and rewarding role which really focuses the skills, confidence and knowledge of the experienced child protection manager and practitioner. In addition to managing the allegations process, the role incorporates training and development opportunities with our education partners. It includes chairing meetings, producing clear and analytical reports and visits to schools and education settings.

About The Team

The LADO service is a small team comprised of 3 team members. Once you join Haringey you will receive regular supervision from the experienced LADO Service Manager and support from our Senior Business Support Officer. In addition to regular team meetings, there are service meetings with colleagues from the service in which you will be based (the Engagement, Safeguarding and Quality Assurance Service). You have the opportunity to enhance your learning and expertise in this small and continuously developing team.

About You

You are a qualified and registered social worker with substantial post qualification experience in childcare social work, and at least five years’ management experience leading Children’s Services/Children & Families teams. You bring deep expertise in child protection enquiries and the wider child protection system, a strong grasp of relevant safeguarding legislation, regulations and guidance, and a clear understanding of how the full range of children’s services, agencies and partner organisations operate to keep children safe. You are confident assessing and managing risk, and can write clear, robust policies and procedures that translate statutory requirements into effective practice.
