About The Role

We are looking for an organised and motivated Deputyship & Appointeeship Officer to join our Deputyship and Appointeeship Team. This is a rewarding role where you will help protect and manage the financial affairs of vulnerable adults who have been assessed as lacking mental capacity. You will administer Deputyship and Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Appointeeship cases, manage client finances, maintain accurate records, and work closely with colleagues, families and external organisations to safeguard residents’ interests.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Managing a caseload of Deputyship and DWP Appointeeship cases.
  • Preparing and submitting Court of Protection applications.
  • Liaising with the Office of the Public Guardian, DWP, legal services and other agencies.
  • Managing clients’ income, expenditure and financial records.
  • Preparing annual accounts and supporting statutory reporting requirements.
  • Reviewing benefit entitlements and maximising income for clients.
  • Providing advice and guidance to Adult Social Care teams on Deputyship and Appointeeship matters.
  • Maintaining accurate financial and client records using council systems.

About The Team

The Deputyship & Appointeeship Team plays a vital role within Adult Social Care, helping to safeguard and manage the financial affairs of some of Haringey’s most vulnerable residents. The team supports adults who have been assessed as lacking mental capacity to manage their own finances, ensuring their income, assets and benefits are protected and administered in their best interests. As part of a small, specialist team, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives while developing expertise in deputyship, appointeeship, safeguarding and client financial management. We are a supportive and collaborative team that is committed to delivering high-quality services, maintaining the highest professional standards and ensuring residents receive the protection and support they need.

About You

We are seeking someone who is highly organised, numerate and committed to supporting vulnerable adults.

You Will Bring:

  • Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Court of Protection processes and the role of the Office of the Public Guardian.
  • Knowledge of DWP legislation and benefits administration.
  • Experience of financial administration and maintaining accurate records.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with residents, families and professional stakeholders.
  • The ability to analyse information, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent IT skills and attention to detail.
  • A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and delivering high-quality customer service.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable adults, Deputyship or Appointeeship arrangements, or within Adult Social Care is desirable.
