Duties
Post Summary
The post holder will provide a professional, responsive and effective security service to Whittington Health NHS Trust on a staff bank basis. The role supports the protection of patients, visitors, staff, Trust property and assets against crime, disorder, violence, aggression and other security-related risks.
The Bank Security Officer will be required to work flexibly across a range of shifts, including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays, depending on service need. The post holder will support the substantive security team by carrying out patrols, responding to incidents, operating security systems, supporting clinical teams, assisting with emergency responses and maintaining a safe and secure environment.
The post is subject to satisfactory recruitment checks, including enhanced DBS clearance where required, completion of mandatory training, and successful completion of conflict resolution, physical intervention/restraint and officer safety training provided by the Trust.
As a Bank Security Officer, you will support the Trust by carrying out patrols, responding to security incidents, assisting clinical teams, operating CCTV and access control systems, supporting emergency responses and helping to maintain a safe and secure environment across our hospital and community sites.
You will be joining a developing and supportive Security Service, with opportunities to build your skills and experience within the NHS. Specific security-related training will be provided in-house, including enhanced conflict resolution, breakaway, restraint/physical intervention training, officer safety training and local security procedures .

Education/ Qualifications
Good basic education e.g. GCSE or equivalent Full clean UK driving license
SIA Door Supervisor Licence Advanced Fire Fighting Skills
Previous Training in Control & Restraint & physical intervention skills
Lift evacuation training
Skills & Abilities
Ability to work on own initiative and minimum supervision
Excellent communicator (both verbal and written)
Ability to carry out several different tasks simultaneously Ability to maintain accurate records
Keyboard and computer skills Checkable DBS history Knowledge of MS office Health & Safety Awareness

Staff Bank Requirements
As this is a Staff Bank role, the post holder will:
- Work on an as-and-when-required basis, depending on service need and shift availability.
- Be expected to work flexibly across days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
- Be required to follow the same standards, policies and procedures as substantive Security Officers.
- Be responsible for accepting only shifts they are able to complete safely and professionally.
- Notify the Staff Bank and Security Management Team promptly if unable to attend an accepted shift.
- Understand that bank work does not guarantee regular or fixed hours.
