We are hiring a Head of Health, Safety & Environment to join our Operational Leadership Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to lead our Health and Safety, Environmental, Facilities and Security teams across our class leading facilities in Castleford and Pontefract, West Yorkshire.
As a Head of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) you will be responsible for ensuring Policy and Framework governance is in place with full compliance to country law and changing legislation. Lead and engage the Senior team, Front Lines teams and Factory teams in a Continuous Improvement approach to HSE, embedding Systems and Accountability at every level. The Ideal candidate will excel at visual management and embedding systems, helping to create a culture of wellbeing for people and planet across Hariboβs UK Operations, including Retail stores. The position will operate within Corporate Global Team, UK Senior team and supporting the UK Board in KPI management, education and awareness and ultimately Business Continuity processes.
Our Needs from you:
- Set H&S Strategy, deployment and governance across UK Operations
- Promote a positive and engaged Health & Safety Culture with high activation of colleagues in Systems working and tools to drive a Zero Injury Future
- Own the Carbon Mapping and Energy Reduction strategy for Haribo UK
- Ensure legality is achieved and updates on changing legislation
- Provide Leadership, guidance and support to all functions in relation to the delivery of HSE responsibilities
- Maintain and engage with wider Haribo Sustainability practices and ensure the UK is at the leading edge within Food & Beverage in its operations
- Operating within the UK Operations Leadership team in support of UK Business strategies
- Support Global Sites through Fresh Eye audits overseas and provide specialist SME advice on Capex projects in UK and Investigations or improvements within Group
Ingredients that you bring with you:
- In-depth knowledge of current Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and relevant standards
- Knowledge and experience in Property risk management, Business Continuity and Business risk management
- Knowledge and experience in Environmental management
- Engaging and Curious towards People and Behaviours
- Well organised, co-ordinator and planner
- Proven track record in developing and delivering presentation and training material
- Project management skills
- Managing and coaching of Direct Reports
- Able to communicate at all levels within the business, from Floor to Boardroom
Qualifications/Experience:
- Chartered Safety Practitioner (CMIOSH)
- NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
- Experienced manager with proven experience in the environmental risk professional field
- Degree level environmental management qualification (IEMA or CIWEM) or equivalent experience
- Environmental audit / compliance inspection skills
- Experience of developing ISO 14001 management systems
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills β both written and verbal
- Experience in management operations and leadership
- Ability to work under pressure whilst meeting deadlines and achieving targets
- A flexible approach to work and a willingness to work above expectations
- Ability to influence and challenge
- Solid understanding of financial management
- Experience of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is essential
