A vacancy has arisen for a Plant Operative to join our team at the Port of Tyne.

Hargreaves Industrial Services provide a varied Operations, Maintenance and Industrial cleaning service to our client at the Port of Tyne Biomass handling facility.

We are responsible for the day to day maintenance and operations of a material handling system consisting of traditional and Air glide conveyors including a number of transfer towers and three 25,000 ton storage silos which transfers Biomass wood pellets from vessel to a rail loading facility with which we also maintain and operate sending the Biomass material via rail to Lynemouth power station.

The site is also supported on a day to day basis with our industrial cleaning team ensuring a very strict cleaning regime is adhered to at all times.

The role briefly encompasses the following duties: -

  • Operating vacuum and other housekeeping equipment to allow cleaning activities to be carried out.
  • Ability to react and clean any unplanned spillages.
  • Operate to high levels of cleanliness.
  • Ability to identify defects & reporting of defects.
  • Operate site Vehicles and complete relevant documentation.
  • Operate equipment and complete relevant documentation.
  • Inspection of site ensuring Health and Safety procedures are being adhered to.
  • Continually look for ways to improve service.
  • Assist other site members if required to do so.
  • The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/experience/ attributes:-
  • Experience of similar operations.
  • COMPEX awareness certificate.
  • Knowledge of Plant (Especially working within ATEX zones).
  • Telehandler licence. (Preferable but not essential)
  • Operator of mobile vacuum equipment.
  • Positive attitude to safety.
  • CPCS safety passport or equivalent.
  • Site safety induction training.
  • Adhere to Permit to work procedures.
  • Hargreaves safety induction training.
  • Comply and understand all site golden rules, safety instructions and procedures.
  • Undertake all mandatory E-learning as required.
  • COMPEX training.
  • Undertake site specific training as required.
