A vacancy has arisen for a Centrifuge & Telehandler Operator to join our team within our Yorkshire Water contract based in the Harrogate and Halifax area. The role is to support the delivery of the sludge handling and movements within the wastewater treatment sites within the Yorkshire area. The candidate will need to manage the control of the centrifuge, adjustment of running parameters, fault check and proactively comply with policies and procedures. Flexibility is key within this role as there may be a requirement to travel between the sites as and when required to meet operational needs including nights & weekends. The hours of work may also vary based on operations. Adopting safe working techniques and good overall operation practices are essential.

The role briefly encompasses the following duties:

  • To operate centrifuges, conveyors and poly make-up plant.
  • To conduct telehandler operations including use of bucket to load trucks.
  • Monitor all equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation is maintained – take appropriate action in the event of abnormal conditions, i.e. blockages, system failures etc.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards of work areas and equipment.
  • Carry out daily checks on equipment, including centrifuges, conveyors and poly make-up plant.
  • Report any defects and any consumables that may be required, such as additional polymer.
  • Monitor product throughput.
  • Carry out additional tasks that the operator is trained and competent to do, such as greasing & preventative maintenance.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/experience/attributes:

  • Valid tele handler license.
  • Good understanding of site safety standards.
  • Previous experience of operating centrifuges and associated equipment, i.e. poly make-up plant and conveyors.
  • Comply and understand all site golden rules, safety instructions and procedures.
  • Undertake site specific training as required.
  • Knowledge and experience in a similar role.
  • Good problem solver.
  • Flexible approach to work.
  • Ability to work independently and on own initiative.
  • Good time keeping and willing to work overtime as necessary.
  • Good communication skills, both with colleagues, other contractors and clients at all levels.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
