HIS3409 Barlow Leading Hand - Drax Power Station

A vacancy has arisen for a Barlow Leading Hand to join our team at Drax Power Station.
Hargreaves Industrial Services provide a varied Operations and Maintenance service to our client at Drax Power Station.
We handle, maintain, and reclaim materials including FBA, Coal and Mitigant Slurry whilst managing material stocks and transportation using a wide range of Mobile Plant.
The role briefly encompasses the following
- Liaise with Barlow Supervisor & Operations Shift Supervisor (OSS) regarding Barlow and other operational requirements
- Lead the shift team and perform supervisory duties in the Barlow Supervisors absence.
- Ensure HIS compliance with regard to Drax Barlow permit/planning consents.
- Hand over and report operational status to OSS
- Liaise with Barlow Supervisor/OSS on the deployment of the Barlow shift team in accordance with operational requirements
- Provide shift team with the information regarding their shift duties
- Inspect plant areas
- 'Hands on' assistance and involvement in the operational processes as agreed with the Barlow Supervisor/ OSS.
- Carry out safety audits in line with agreed targets
- Record details of shift events and report to the Barlow Supervisor/ OSS.
- Promote hazard reporting within the teams
- Manage hazards reported within Barlow Operational area & liaise with the Barlow Supervisor/ OSS
- Deliver safety toolbox talks & other site safety information to the team & return signed acknowledgements
- Liaise with the Barlow Supervisor/ OSS on, dust suppression, vehicle/plant refueling, product sales and housekeeping requirements
- Drive site vehicles and mobile plant in line with site rules & procedures
- Operate the Barlow Plant (FEL's, Dozers, ADT's, Excavators and screening plant.
- Complete regular inspections of the Barlow mound, plant and equipment & report any defects, issues etc.
- Carry out any other reasonable instruction required to ensure the smooth operation of the site as directed by the Barlow Supervisor/ OSS
- Complete all associated check sheets for both mobile & static plant
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/ attributes
- IOSH managing safety or equivalent
- Step Back/Speak
- Materials handling/Mobile Plant experience
- Competent person within HIS and Drax Power Safety & Golden rules
- Ability to fault find problems & act upon
- Environmental care awareness
- Mobile Plant operator
- Harness trained
- Forklift trained
Due to the health and safety risks associated with this working environment, all individuals must comply with face fitted dust mask rules.
In order to do so individuals must be clean shaven at all times when on site.
