About the Role
As Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in delivering accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting across the Group.
Responsible for the monthly consolidation of Group management accounts and preparation of statutory accounts, you will ensure the integrity of financial information and support effective decision‑making.
Working closely with divisional finance teams, senior stakeholders and external auditors, you will contribute to high‑quality reporting, strong financial controls and the successful delivery of the Group’s governance, compliance and reporting obligations.
- What you’ll be doing
- Take ownership of the preparation, consolidation and timely submission of the Group’s monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy, integrity and robust balance sheet reconciliations across the business.
- Lead the preparation and submission of the Group’s quarterly VAT returns and other regulatory compliance obligations, ensuring adherence to statutory requirements and best practice standards.
- Manage the Group’s tax compliance activities, including the preparation and coordination of corporation tax returns, supporting effective tax governance and regulatory compliance.
- Drive the ongoing development, maintenance and optimisation of financial systems, identifying opportunities to enhance reporting capability, improve efficiency and strengthen financial controls.
- Play a pivotal role in delivering the Group’s statutory reporting requirements, including:
- Supporting the preparation of the Group’s Annual and Interim Reports, ensuring high‑quality financial disclosures and compliance with reporting standards.
- Preparing statutory financial statements for subsidiary entities across the Group.
- Acting as a key liaison with external auditors, coordinating audit activities and ensuring the smooth and timely completion of the audit process.
- Support the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting cycles, with a particular focus on Corporate functions, providing insightful financial analysis and challenge to support informed decision‑making and strategic planning.
- Work collaboratively with divisional finance teams and wider business stakeholders to ensure financial information is accurate, consistent and supports effective reporting to the Board and other key stakeholders.
- What We’re Looking For
- Fully qualified ACA or ACCA accountant with the credibility and confidence to build effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong technical accounting expertise, with proven experience of IFRS and plc reporting environments, including the preparation of statutory accounts and external reporting requirements.
A background in audit or practice is highly desirable.
- Self‑motivated and proactive professional with a strong work ethic, capable of working independently, taking ownership of key deliverables and driving workstreams through to successful completion.
- Excellent communicator with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to stakeholders at all levels across the organisation and externally.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills, with the ability to analyse, interpret and present financial data to support business decision‑making.
- Demonstrable experience of Group consolidations, multi‑entity reporting and complex corporate structures.
- Sound understanding of UK accounting standards, tax compliance and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Strong attention to detail, coupled with the ability to meet tight deadlines and maintain high levels of accuracy in a fast‑paced environment.
