We're looking for a Full-Stack Engineer to develop and maintain our suite of transfer applications. You'll work across three repositories spanning React frontends and AWS serverless backends, contributing to feature delivery, bug fixes, and operational support across the full stack. We want someone who takes ownership of their work, shows initiative in solving problems, and can operate with autonomy once given direction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain features across transfer journeys
- Work across the full stack - React frontends, AWS Lambda BFF layers, and infrastructure as code
- Take ownership of issues end-to-end, from investigation through to production deployment
- Proactively identify and raise technical debt, bugs, and improvement opportunities
- Support and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
- Write well-tested, maintainable code with good coverage
- Collaborate with the wider team, platform teams, and product owners to deliver against requirements
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to team engineering standards
Required Skills & Experience:
- Backend / BFF: Node.js with TypeScript, AWS Lambda handler development, API Gateway - routing, authorizers, request/response handling, Middleware patterns for Lambda handlers (e.g. Middy), Working with DynamoDB, Secrets Manager, and SSM Parameter Store, RESTful API design
- AWS & Infrastructure: AWS CDK or SST for infrastructure as code, Familiarity with core AWS services: Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, IAM, VPC, SNS, Basic understanding of VPC networking - Lambda in VPC, security groups
- Testing: Unit and integration testing with Vitest or similar, API mocking with MSW or equivalent, A test-first or test-aware mindset
- CI/CD & DevOps: Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI or similar), Comfortable deploying to multiple environments and debugging deployment issues
- General: Working in monorepo setups, OAuth/token-based authentication flows, Comfortable using Git in a team environment (branching strategies, merge requests, code reviews)
Desirable:
- Frontend: React with TypeScript, React Hook Form, Zod/schema-based validation, TanStack Query (React Query), Vite build tooling, Playwright for end-to-end testing, Accessibility awareness
- Other: Experience with SST v2 (Serverless Stack), Feature flagging (LaunchDarkly or similar), Cross-account AWS patterns (STS AssumeRole), Contract testing (Pact), Financial services domain experience, Code quality tooling
