About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to produce market leading research on a defined list of global equities. As Equity Researcher, you will be writing relevant, insightful commentary on equities and markets, to be published across the HL website, the Investment Times and PR commentary. In this role, you will also be helping our existing clients to save and invest with confidence and playing a pivotal role in attracting new clients.

About the team

This role reports to the Head of Equity Research and is part of the Investment Strategy team. Equity Researchers produce market leading research on a defined list of global equities for HL\'s 2 million clients. Last year, the team produced more than 500 equity research notes, triggered by annual results, news events, and corporate activity.

What you\'ll be doing

  • Producing research on a dedicated list of global equities, including updates on major news flow and events
  • Writing regular, relevant, insightful commentary on equities and markets for publication on the HL website, the Investment Times and for distribution to existing and prospective clients
  • Developing \'investment ideas\' for clients, including contribution to flagship marketing campaigns such as, \"Five Shares to Watch\" and \"Shares for your ISA\"
  • Working with the financial promotions team and maintaining familiarity with relevant regulatory developments to ensure all content is appropriate and compliant

About you

To succeed as Equity Researcher, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Informed, specialist knowledge of markets, investment trends and current affairs
  • Excellent writing skills, keen attention to detail and a clear understanding of tone of voice guidelines
  • Ability to critically analyse qualitative data to evaluate investment potential
  • A proactive approach and ability to multitask, manage time and prioritise effectively
  • Ability to stay calm and professional under pressure
  • Achieved or studying towards your Investment Management Certificate (IMC)
  • Achieved or studying towards equity specific qualification (R02, CII Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning)
  • In the absence of exams direct experience of preparing or reading financial statements is required.

A 2 stage interview process consisting of competency based questions and a task.

This role is based in Bristol head office, BS1 5HL. This role is a permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The team come into the Bristol office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Ideally, we are looking for someone to join and collaborate with the team in the office once or twice a week.
