What you’ll be doing:
- Work closely with Digital leaders, managers and stakeholders providing guidance, oversight and challenge to the technology and digital risk control environment, focusing on resilience in operations, strategic delivery and deployment.
- Maintain effective stakeholder relationships with the relevant Business colleagues to influence and challenge the management of business risk in line with the HL Risk Taxonomy and Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
- Provide oversight, guidance and assurance that supports continual improvements of Technology Risk and Resilience management across the Group and Third Parties.
- Represent Second Line Risk at functional/business management meetings providing independent challenge, specialist/technical advice and guidance to ensure the effective management of business risk in line with the HL Policy Framework and associated standards.
- Oversee the implementation of functional/business Risk Maturity plans providing timely advice, guidance and support to Business colleagues to ensure HL Groups Risk Maturity targets are met.
- Collaborate across Second Line Risk and Compliance teams to ensure a ‘One Connected Team’ approach by embedding Second Line Risk & Compliance oversights squads ensuring the prompt sharing of business information and collaborative agreement of focus areas for oversight.
- Provide timely oversight of both Strategic and Continuous Improvement change and transition into the BAU business, with focus on establishment and embedding of appropriate and effective governance and controls in the business.
- Lead the development and delivery of Second Line Risk Opinions required to inform business decision via the appropriate governance forum(s).
- Ensure the prompt sharing of relevant developments and risk events (internal and external) that may be relevant to or have an impact on HL, ensuring these are effectively assessed and used to inform business decision making.
- Lead or provide specialist technical input into the execution of Second Line Assurance Reviews for thematic risk areas across the business.
- Provide specialist and technical contributions to Second Line Risk reporting, as required.
- Deputise for team members and the Head of Digital & Corporate Functions Risk Oversight as required.
About you:
- Established Risk practitioner with experience in a Financial Services organisation.
- Technology subject matter expert, with experience of traditional software development life cycle and cloud development and deployment control environments.
- Strong knowledge of Enterprise Risk management frameworks and experience of the practical application of the fundamental principles of risk management in a First Line and/or Second Line context.
- Good knowledge of FCA Handbook and relevant regulation and legislation impacting Financial Services organisation.
- Good understanding of current and emerging technology risks facing Financial Services organisations.
- Accomplished in forging effective relationships at all levels, skilled at influencing, negotiating and managing challenging conversations with ease.
- Proven experience and ability to lead and collaborate across multi‑functional teams.
Interview process:
The interview process for this role will be a two‑stage interview consisting of technical competency‑based questions and an assessment.
Working Schedule:
The Senior Risk Oversight Manager role is a Permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Our office is based in Bristol, BS1 5HL. Hybrid working is available where there’s flexibility to work from home and the office.
