About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join our Cloud Platform team and help shape the future of our cloud platform. In this role, you’ll design, build, and evolve platform capabilities that power scalable, secure, and highly reliable cloud solutions. You’ll apply strong platform engineering principles to create automated, reusable, and self-service solutions that improve developer experience and enable teams to deliver faster and more consistently.

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you’ll bring deep technical expertise and a strategic mindset to:

  • Drive high-quality platform design and engineering standards
  • Enable automation, reliability, and cost optimisation at scale
  • Embed best practices that simplify and standardise how we build and run services

In addition, this role will play a key part in mentoring and supporting engineers, influencing technical direction, and collaborating across teams to deliver high-quality, cloud-native solutions aligned with HL goals.

About you

  • Extensive experience with public cloud services and cloud-native architectures, including networking, security, and governance.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for complex automation workflows.
  • Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerisation (Docker), and orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes)
  • Deep understanding of cloud security frameworks, identity management, and compliance standards (e.g., ISO, SOC, GDPR).
  • Proven ability to design scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient cloud solutions in enterprise environments.
  • Strong analytical skills to resolve complex technical challenges and make strategic decisions.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting the development of other engineers clearly.

This is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
