About the role
The Digital Analytics Lead is responsible for leading the Digital Analytics squad, enabling the business to understand, measure, and improve client experiences and commercial outcomes across digital and non-digital touchpoints.
This role partners closely with journey tribes, Product, Digital and Marketing teams to deliver insight, measurement frameworks, and actionable analysis that drive better decision‑making.
It owns the design and delivery of digital measurement, tagging strategies, data models, dashboards, and advanced analysis, ensuring analytics is embedded as a core capability across HL.
The role leads, coaches, and develops a team of Digital Analysts, building strong analytical capability and promoting self‑service through high‑quality dashboarding, clear data products, and stakeholder education.
It plays a key role within the Data Activation & Digital Analytics function, ensuring analytics supports experimentation, personalisation, and optimisation initiatives delivered through the wider data and martech ecosystem.
The Digital Analytics Lead keeps abreast of industry trends in analytics tooling, data collection strategies, and analytical techniques, shaping the evolution of HL’s analytics capabilities and ensuring we continue to use best in class approaches and technologies.
- What you will be doing
- Lead the Digital Analytics team to deliver consistent, high‑quality insight across digital journeys, marketing activity, and wider client touchpoints.
- Own digital measurement strategy, including event design, tagging frameworks, data quality standards, and governance across web, app, and adjacent platforms.
- Ensure comprehensive and comparable coverage of client and prospect journeys, aligning analytics outputs to downstream needs such as reporting, experimentation, activation, and modelling.
- Deliver dashboards and data products that enable self‑service analytics for journey tribes and stakeholders, reducing reliance on ad‑hoc analysis while increasing insight adoption.
- Provide deep‑drive and advanced analysis across digital and non‑digital data to diagnose issues, uncover opportunities, and inform prioritisation and investment decisions.
- Partner closely with Digital, Product, Marketing, and Engineering teams to embed analytics into delivery cycles, experimentation frameworks, and roadmap planning.
- Own analytics implementation and configuration across core tools (e. g.
Snowflake, Amplitude Analytics, Qualtrics and related platforms), and partners with Data Engineering to turn them into downstream data products.
- Expand and integrate qualitative and behavioural data (e. g. surveys, feedback, session replay) to complement quantitative insight and provide a holistic view of client experience.
- Coach and develop the Digital Analytics team, setting clear standards, building capability across analysis, data storytelling, and tooling, and supporting career progression.
- Shape analytics ways of working, including backlog prioritisation, stakeholder intake, and delivery cadence aligned to journey tribe outcomes.
- Stay up to date with industry trends in digital analytics, tooling, privacy‑aware measurement, and skills development, proactively evolving HL’s analytics approach.
- Ensure analytics practices align with architectural, security, and regulatory standards, working closely with Privacy and Risk to support compliant measurement and insight.
About you
- Digital Analytics Leadership – Proven experience leading a Digital Analytics team, setting clear vision, standards, and development plans, with demonstrable improvements in capability and stakeholder impact.
- Analytics Skills, Coaching, & Tooling – Strong hands‑on and strategic experience with both doing and coaching classical analysis approaches, (i. e.
Advanced SQL, Python), modern Digital analytics platforms such as Amplitude Analytics, web/app analytics stacks, and qualitative insight tools (e. g.
Qualtrics), underpinned by cloud data platforms and tools such as Snowflake, and with an open mind on AI.
- Measurement & Tagging Design – Deep expertise in event‑based measurement, tracking plans, data layers, and tagging strategies across web and app environments.
- Commercial Analysis & CRO – Ability to perform and guide complex analysis across digital and non‑digital datasets to identify behavioural patterns, opportunities, and drivers of commercial outcomes, & translate those into opportunities for conversion rate optimisation.
- Dashboard & Data Feature Development – The data the Digital Analytics team generates needs to be actionable both by HL teams making business decisions, and by our data science and AI products that help drive better client experience.
Experience delivering robust dashboards and self‑service analytics that balance flexibility with governance and clarity.
- Stakeholder Partnering – Strong track record of partnering with Product, Digital, Marketing, and Engineering teams to embed analytics into decision making and delivery.
- Data Storytelling – Exceptional ability to translate analysis into clear, compelling narratives that influence decisions at different levels of the organisation.
- Expert in being able to analyse and simplify multiple aspects of the business data processes and use of dedicated tooling.
Experience using data management tools e. g.
Informatica, Collibra, Precisely.
Technical competency in writing SQL using platforms such as Snowflake or Databricks is desirable.
Interview process
The interview process for this role is two stages including technical competency‑based questions and a scenario task.
Working Schedule
This role is based in Bristol head office, BS1 5HL. This role is permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We have returned to the office 2 days a week.
