About the role

This role drives the use of Data to step change our client experiences and commercial value, liaising with our journey tribes and the wider Data and Digital areas to deliver client and colleague solutions through our Mar Tech stack.

This includes new avenues for personalisation, channels, and integration, to deliver on Hargreaves Lansdown’s ambitious plans to help the UK Grow Wealth with Confidence.

The role will lead and develop the Data Activation team, helping them to identify and accelerate business value across our client contact channels and the internal tribes and external agencies that activate across them, will act as a leader in the Data Activation & Digital Analytics Tribe and the broader Data & Insight directorate.

The role will also keep on top of developments in the industry and the Mar Tech technology ecosystem, helping to plan our matrix of technology providers for new use cases, especially around AI, and will work closely with Privacy and Risk to understand how we can and cannot use our data to reach our clients.

  • What you will be doing
  • Delivers frameworks and plans for Strategic HL priorities on Martech, including Personalisation, Tiering, Targeted Support.
  • Owns the data pipelines for Engagement Activation in our Cloud Data Warehouse for use in activation.
  • Identifies new use cases for our data to improve client and commercial outcomes through our Martech stack.
  • Ensures our Martech solutions fit our architectural, compliance, and security patterns.
  • Team management and coaching for Data Activation team.
  • Prioritises backlog for Data Activation to ensure alignment with commercial and client use cases along with data and technical availability.
  • Acts as a front door and liaison for the business.

About you

  • Mar Tech – Has led cross-channel activation using an Enterprise Mar Tech stack to drive better commercial outcomes, ideally using Segment or similar, an Engagement Platform (e. g.

Braze), and Snowflake, and ideally within a regulated industry, and can evidence uplifts in performance from their work, has developed innovative approaches to deal with personalisation, prioritisation, and engagement.

  • Team Leadership – Has built and led a multidisciplinary Data team (e. g., CDP/Mar Tech, digital marketers, analysts), set vision and OKRs, coached capability, and can evidence improved performance, team engagement, and career progression.
  • Data Architecture – Has owned requirements for activation-ready customer and event data products, models and pipelines.
  • Stakeholder Management – Has influenced and aligned journey tribes, Marketing, Product, Engineering, Privacy and Risk (and external agencies) to a single value-led roadmap, and can evidence decisions landed, trade-offs managed, and OKRs delivered.
  • Cloud Data Analytics Platforms (e. g., AWS/GCP) – Comfortable working in Cloud infrastructure to perform complex analysis and to underpin activation stack while retaining efficiency and best practice patterns.
  • Consent & GDPR – Has championed Privacy by Design across consent capture, preference management, suppression and PECR-compliant communications in a regulated environment (GDPR/UK PECR/FCA), and understands their implications in campaign and data design.
  • Solution Integration / Architecture – Understands architectural principles for integrating first and third party systems for meeting business requirements, including security, infrastructure, supplier capability mapping etc.
  • Management – Has managed budgets, vendors, and operating rhythm for Data Activation/Martech, set governance and risk controls, and can evidence on-budget delivery, vendor performance to SLAs, and a predictable planning cadence across competing demand.
  • Digital Media & Marketing – Has connected first-party data to paid and owned channels (e. g. conversion APIs, server-side tagging, audience sync etc) with aligned eligibility /frequency /messaging, and can evidence higher match rates, improved CAC/ROI and deliverability.
  • Interview process

The interview process for this role is two stages including technical competency-based questions and a scenario task.

Working Schedule

This role is based in Bristol head office, BS1 5HL. This role is permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We have returned to the office 2 days a week.
