Software Engineer (React Native) in Bristol

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Dealing Journeys squad, delivering critical capabilities at the heart of the investment experience.

You will join our Trading Tribe – a domain responsible for end‑to‑end investment journeys, from pre‑trade decision‑making and order placement through to trade execution, delivering fast, reliable and seamless investing experiences at scale.

In this role, you will build and enhance modern mobile applications using React Native, React and Type Script, contributing to products used by millions of clients.

• What you’ll do
• Develop, maintain and improve high‑quality mobile applications using React Native and Type Script, following engineering, security and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers and designers to deliver valuable new features and enhancements for our clients.
• Contribute to the development of reliable, scalable and maintainable solutions across the application lifecycle.
• Integrate mobile applications with backend services and APIs to deliver seamless user experiences.
• Write clean, well‑tested and secure code, actively participating in code reviews and engineering best practices.
• Develop automated tests and contribute to quality engineering practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Support and improve existing applications, troubleshooting issues and helping ensure excellent performance and reliability.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes that enable efficient software delivery.
• Document solutions and technical decisions in line with team standards.
• Actively participate in technical discussions, knowledge‑sharing activities and communities of practice.
• Continuously develop your technical and interpersonal skills while contributing to a collaborative and supportive team culture.

What you bring

• Commercial experience developing applications with React Native and Type Script.
• Experience building and maintaining mobile applications in a production environment.
• Good understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns and testing practices.
• Experience working with REST APIs and/or Graph QL.
• Knowledge of modern React Native application architecture and state‑management approaches such as Redux, Mob X or equivalent.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Jest, Detox and Testing Library.
• Strong debugging and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience working with large or evolving applications and contributing to their ongoing improvement.
• Understanding of CI/CD practices and modern software delivery approaches.
• Passion for writing secure, maintainable and well‑tested code.
• A collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within cross‑functional Agile teams.
• Eagerness to learn, grow and continuously improve as an engineer.
• Nice to have
• Experience with React for web applications.
• Experience with React Native New Architecture (Fabric, Turbo Modules and JSI).
• Experience developing native mobile applications using Swift (i OS) and/or Kotlin (Android).
• Experience publishing and maintaining applications in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
• Familiarity with mobile analytics, crash reporting and performance monitoring tools.
• Experience working in regulated industries such as financial services.
