About the role
Join Hargreaves Lansdown (HL) as the Pensions Technical Manager and become a key part of our first‑line client team. You'll provide expert technical guidance and support for the HL pension products, including market‑leading SIPP, Drawdown and annuity propositions, helping clients save and invest for a brighter future. What you’ll be doing
- Work closely with Product and Proposition Managers and the Head of Pensions & Retirement.
- Draw on deep technical knowledge to support operations, chair committees, oversee processes and manage key documentation.
- Represent HL and our clients in industry groups.
- Provide technical input and lead workstreams on key HL initiatives.
- Shape the technical elements of future regulatory change by collaborating with HL policy colleagues and representing HL in industry forums and working groups.
- Ensure the needs of HL clients are considered.
- Own and manage the end‑to‑end process to implement regulatory changes across HL’s pension products.
- Set pension projection assumptions and coordinate with HL teams and third parties to ensure timely updates.
- Chair the HL Death Claims Committee, review individual cases and ensure the distribution of deceased pension assets serves clients’ best interests.
- Oversee HL policies and procedures specific to pensions, including SIPP early access, genuine errors, unauthorised payments and defined benefit transfer activity.
- Maintain the accuracy of key documentation such as the Operator Manual, Scheme Rules, Trust Deed, Custody Agreement and Key Features.
- Build and maintain internal technical information for collaboration and information sharing.
- Support HL’s other wrapper‑based products, for example ISAs.
About you
- Bringing deep technical expertise in pensions, with a thorough understanding of complex pension structures and rules.
- Recognised as an expert in trust‑based pension schemes, including SIPPs and Drawdown.
- Highly organised and confident, excelling at chairing committees and leading collaborative teams.
- Demonstrated ability to create, manage and oversee robust policies and procedures, driving compliance and best practice.
- Skilled at engaging senior stakeholders and communicating complex information with clarity.

Working Schedule
The Pensions Technical Manager role is permanent, full‑time, 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday). The office is based in Bristol, BS15HL. Hybrid working is available, with a requirement to be in the office 2–3 days per week.
